In 2017, our wonderful volunteers made 126 birthday cakes for children in the city. Our busiest month was March, where we made 15 cakes! 

The Sheffield Food Festival team kindly gave us the opportunity to be involved in the celebrations over the May Bank Holiday weekend. We held a children’s baking workshop in the Theatre Kitchen Marquee, had a very popular stall in the Peace Gardens and hosted a cake and merchandise stall in the Winter Gardens.  Many thanks to everyone who donated - our activities raised £220.

Volunteer Felicia Ziparo has lived in Sheffield for nearly two years. In addition to baking birthday cakes, Felicia also volunteers as a Cake Fairy - our behind the scenes volunteers who organise the cake requests, deliveries and other important things that ensure the cakes keep coming.

January can feel like a long (and cold!) month, with the expense of Christmas and dark nights drawing in. To many of us, it can feel like a long time until pay day.

So, if you're a professional working with children and families in Sheffield, please do think of cakes for kids if you're supporting a child celebrating a birthday this month.

Our volunteers are ready to bake a difference and ensure no child in the city misses out on a special birthday celebration.
