Changes behind the scenes at Free Cakes Sheffield
From January 2018, volunteer Sarah Gillott will be the new Chair of Free Cakes for Kids Sheffield, supported by a team of volunteers who form the Steering Group.
Sarah said “I’m really excited to have the opportunity to take on the role of Chair. I’m looking forward to getting more involved with such an amazing cause and group of people, and carrying on the fantastic work that Kate and the team have been doing for the last four years. With a new steering group including volunteer manager Alison, treasurer Jon, cake fairies Felicia, Nicola and Denise and the dedicated volunteer bakers I know the group will go from strength to strength."
After four years of organising the baking, Kate is taking a step back. She will continue to look after the website and hopefully, have time to make a cake from time to time! Kate said, “When we first baked in 2013, I never imagined we’d grow into an organisation with 60 volunteers baking around 10 birthday cakes a month for children in the city. Thank you to everyone who has been part of making more birthdays special - it has been a really wonderful experience.”
